What does “PIC” mean, when selecting a Long Distance carrier?

“PIC” refers to Primary Interexchange Carrier code designating the interLATA carrier to carry long distance calls. PIC has evolved to be commonly referred to as both the interLATA and intraLATA carrier code designation.

What calling plan does Pioneer Long Distance offer?

Pioneer Long Distance makes it easy for our customers, we offer one, simple plan available to all customers. The Pioneer Term Plan is available to both Residential or Business customer. The Term Plan is $5.00 per telephone line per month, plus $.13 per minute anytime, anywhere in the United States. Rates do not include taxes and fees. The Pioneer Long Distance $5.00 Basic Plan Charge fee per active line will apply each month, even if there is no Long Distance usage. Visit Pioneer Long Distance for more details.

What is the $5 Basic Plan Charge on my Pioneer Long Distance bill?

The $5 Basic Plan Charge is a per line fee charged per month that covers regulatory fees, printing and administration fees for Pioneer Long Distance. Normal usage charges will apply in addition to the $5 Basic Plan Charge.

Will I get charged the $5 Basic Plan Charge by Pioneer Long Distance if I don’t make any Long Distance calls?

How do I change my Long Distance carrier?

Contact your local Pioneer Telephone Business office to get a list of available Long Distance carriers available in your area. The Customer Service Representative will be able to explain the simple process involved transferring your service to a new Long Distance carrier.

Can my Long Distance carrier be changed without my permission?

No. Switching your Long Distance carrier without your approval is calling “slamming”, and it is illegal. Slamming violates a consumer’s right to choose. Pioneer has a “zero tolerance” for the practice and has a stringent procedure in place to combat slamming.

What are the benefits of having a Long Distance carrier on my landline?

The benefits of having a Long Distance carrier pre-determined on your landline is so when Long Distance calls are necessary, one can be made with ease and with confidence knowing the per minute rate by your carrier.

Can I choose to not have a Long Distance carrier, or have a “No PIC”?

Yes. If a customer chooses a “No PIC”, the customer will NOT be able to make any calls that require 1+ dialing that incurs toll charges. Later, if the customer decides to add a Long Distance there will be a PIC change charge applied.

Can I still dial 911 without a Long Distance carrier?

Yes. You can still dial 911 for emergencies and use all phone features such as call waiting, call forwarding, speed dial, etc. You will also be able to dial toll-free numbers.

What are the PIC charges from Pioneer Telephone to change my Long Distance carrier?

InterState PIC Change Charge, $2.75 plus the current FUSC charge fee (one-time charge),

IntraState PIC Change Charge, $5.00 (one-time charge)

 

Limited Time Offer: Due to changes in fees, Pioneer Long Distance will credit PIC change charges (one time only, per line) thru December 31, 2018 for all Pioneer Long Distance customer who choose to go to a “No PIC” option as a long distance carrier.

 

How do I find my available Long Distance carrier options?

Long Distance options will vary by exchange; therefore, it will be necessary to call your local Pioneer office to see what options are available. The office will provide you with a list of available Long Distance carriers name and toll-free contact numbers. Customers will need to contact the carrier for calling plan options and rate information.

Can I port my home number to Pioneer Cellular since I already use my cell phone for Long Distance?

Is there a charge to port my landline to my cell phone? If so, what is the charge?

No. There is no charge to port your landline number to Pioneer Cellular.
