JANUARY 3, 2022-Pioneer is expanding fiber-optic to rural areas outside of Oakwood. This will include a 14-mile fiber project through the RUS (Rural Utilities Service) ReConnect grant program that was awarded in July 2020.
HMI Utilities was awarded the bid and construction costs for this project are near $400,000. Construction began this past November and will conclude in March 2022. Residents located in the areas being built will have faster and more robust broadband speeds, allowing full access to services such as, 4K live-streaming video, enhanced gaming experience, iVideo streaming TV, High-Definition security cameras and robust home automation systems.
