Pioneer Observing National Cooperative Month With Annual Food Drive To Benefit Local Pantries

In conjunction with National Cooperative Month observed each October, Pioneer Telephone Cooperative and Pioneer Cellular will host a community food drive from Oct. 24-Nov.14.

The food drive themed “Cooperatives Build”, will help restock the shelves of local food pantries throughout Pioneer’s service area(s). Those donating food items may also register to win one of two $100 cash prizes to be given away following the event on Monday, Nov. 14.

According to the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank, Oklahoma is one of the hungriest states in the nation, with one in four children struggling with hunger and more than 656,000 of our neighbors at risk of going hungry every day.

Some suggested food items include peanut butter, jelly, pasta, spaghetti sauce, canned fruits and vegetables, macaroni and cheese, canned meats, canned tuna, powdered milk, baby food, sugar, flour, canned juices, rice and beans.
